The Many Faces of a Sleeping Babe

It often seems as though the only time I can get a decent picture of my son is when he's alseep. Otherwise he's just too blurry from moving around so much. He moves WAY more than any of the other babies in my family, which is why I've aptly given him the name of "Squirmy-Wormy."
Here he is taking a nap in his bouncer (Thanks Daniel & Crystal - I had no idea how great these are!) On this day he decided it would be fun to try and get out of the bouncer...well at least a leg and a hand made it overboard! The leg that needs to be rescued. His whole sleeping self. I LOVE holding him while he sleeps and having him just cuddle up to you...that's probably my favorite thing right now.And here he is during his afternoon nap. This child always has his arms out, he was never a fan of swaddling. Except that one time I couldn't get him to sleep for the life of me and someone else swaddled him and he went right to sleep. I've tried it since and it's NEVER worked again. So weird.
He loves to sleep with a blanket and he used to snuggle his face right into it so I started using the afgans my mother made for him 'cause there's holes in them so I feel like he can breathe easier. Thank goodness those days are over!
I can't believe how big he's getting!!

Date Night

While in UT, Stephen's mom treated us to a date night! We left IV with her (along with Daniel and Crystal's two) and headed off to Liberty Park with Daniel, Crystal and Matt. It would have been a triple date but unfortunately Matt's wife was unable to join us.
Luckily for us Crystal had two grocery bags full of bread that was too stale to eat, so we fed it to the hungry ducks instead. The ducks were not afraid of us at all and came right up to us which really scared me at first.
I wish we had more parks like this in AZ!

We managed to find a bench right on the water although the water was so stinky you really didn't want to be that close.
This is Limpy.
When we first showed up the ducks were scattered across the lake, but as soon as we started throwing our copious amounts of bread into the water the ducks flocked right to us. There were so many ducks in such a small space that sometimes they had to fight it out to get the pieces of food. Limpy was the result of such commotion. After the fight he limped the rest of the night and I resorted to hand-delivering him my pieces of bread. Such an epic tale for so meager a creature.
These guys were the crowd-pleasers. Who doesn't love a baby duck?
The ducks were super friendly (I almost typed frisky!) and would eat right out of our hands.
Matt was the adventurous one and tried feeding the duck right out of his mouth. Can you say GROSS?!I certainly wasn't brave enough to try that!

We all had so much fun. This probably lasted over an hour until we realized we were stealing all the ducks away from the little kids who came with their parents. We gave the rest of our bread to them so they could enjoy in the fun.

Old Photos

These are some random photos that I took in May. First off, here's our little guy. I put a blanket on him to sleep and he would snuggle down on in it as far as he could. Funny guy.Next we have some of the blankets that he was given. This first on is from my grandma and what I love about it is that the back material is the same train material some of my nephews have on their favorite blankets! This one was made by a wonderful lady in our ward in Texas. Too cute. Here's how Stephen preferred to spend his time while the rest of us packed up our stuff to leave Texas. He LOVED sleeping on the love sac! After dropping off our stuff in AZ (I'm sooo bummed I didn't take any pictures of that trip) we immediately left for UT. Here's Happy and SuperBoy (my nephews) at my grandmother's house in Tooele pretending to drive their racecars. More pictures to follow, I'm still working on getting them web-ready.

Three Months

Unfortunately I have not been able to find my camera and so this will be a picture-less post. Just imagine tons of pictures of the cutest little baby you've ever seen ;)

Today is his three-month birthday. He is gaining weight so fast and finally has some thunder thighs!! IV is such a smiley baby and will give the biggest open-mouth grins. Just over a week ago he started consistently sleeping through the night. Love it!! The only problem is that he is on the opposite schedule of me. I go to sleep late and wake up late while IV likes to go to sleep early and wake up early, I guess he's just trying to make me a better person.

IV is more aware of his surroundings and is now able to grasp his hands together and then shove them in his mouth. He is such a daddy's boy!! Anytime that Stephen is nearby he will start wiggling like crazy and he smiles the biggest smiles for his dad. One of his favorite ways to be held is this backwards-arm maneuver that only his dad can pull off.

Last weekend my family had a pre- Fourth of July carnival that was tons of fun. There were booths set up with games to play and prizes to win. My favorite games were at the cork-gun station and the rubber-band shooters. I think it's very telling that we all enjoyed the shoot-em-up games. You can view pictures of the carnival here.

Nothing too exciting has been happening around here lately, but we're super busy all the time. I'm still on the look-out for a job but I'm not too disappointed that I've had tons of time to spend with my Stephen's while I find one. This has to be one of the perks of unemployment!
