Halloween Costume

Little guy is supposed to be a pirate for Halloween. Every time we ask him what he I going to be he comes up with a different answer. Oy. He rotates through a ghost, a witch, and a skeleton. Here's to hoping he wears his costume!

Pumpkin Patch - The Day After

We woke up to snow! Little guy was so happy. He said, "Snow! I am so excited! Where is our Christmas Tree?". Haha. In the following pictures you can see our pumpkins on our front porch (everyone here leaves them on the front porch) and then little guy touching the snow. Yes he is in footed pajamas.

Preschool Field Trip- Pumpkin Patch

I've seen other people posting their pumpkin patch photos and I have to laugh. In AZ we would still be sweating our shoes off, but here we all wore our snow gear. There wasn't snow on the ground but don't be deceived - it was so cold! I think the high was in the low 40s. Crazy.

It had rained all day yesterday and I didn't want to push the double stroller through the mud. Instead I used my sister's moby wrap (thanks Anjeanette!). Carrying Adelaide, the diaper bag and two pumpkins was quite the feat. I am totally down for a long winter's nap!

We went to Black Island Farm and it was awesome! They had a train for the little kids, a corn box(instead of a sandbox), pig races, slides, a bounce house, tons of hay bales to climb, a corn maze, a farmer's market and tons more.

Stephen's favorite was a little building that had a makeshift drum set, chimes, and the old farm equipment to drum on like frying pans, racks, and a shovel. He kept going back there and saying,"I have to do a show mom". "come watch my show.". Too cute!

Little guy would NOT go on the bounce house or the train ride. I was surprised since he LOVES bounce houses but because it was so cold they didn't make the kids take their shoes off and it was dirty. My son hates dirt. As soon as he went inside he screamed "There's a messy mess in here" and I had to take him out. He's done this before when we are visiting other people's homes. If their house is messy he freaks out. Once he wouldn't sit on a couch that had some stains. It's pretty embarrassing. Some moms were concerned he was hurt but I shrugged it off saying "He just hates dirt...we're obviously city folk."

Overall we loved the pumpkin patch, and yay for real fall weather. Now I must take a nap.

Stephen's 34rd Birthday

For Stephen's birthday we threw a root beer tasting party. Root beer is Stephen's favorite drink so we thought this was a perfect idea. We had it in our tiny house. It was chaotic and messy and tons of fun!

Stephen searched high and low to find as many different kinds of root beer as he could. Some fun ones include Brigham's Brew which featured a photo of Brigham Young, and some from local breweries.

The night before the party I counted 80 bottles and 30 different brands of root beer. Hearing that put Stephen on a quest to find 4 more, giving us 34 to try on his 34th. We ended up with 38. I didn't even imagine there would be that many!

I took pictures of our fridge full of root beer, the spill out on our stairs, and the growler's from the local breweries. There is also a picture of the aftermath. Now we still have a fridge full of root beer, if anyone wants some come on by, Please!

Now on to the taste winners. I think everyone was surprised at how gross most of the root beers are. Maybe our palates just aren't as developed, but we tasted a lot that we deemed disgusting. The favorite was Henry Weinhart, which is available at many grocery stores. Also delicious are Virgil's, Howie's, and the local Hire's. The worst? Krisda. We decide that root beers with agave nectar were extremely nasty. The best non-high fructose corn syrup root beer is Blue Sky. Although I suggest only drinking a little.

My Stephens

Little guy loves to wear glasses, and he routinely puts them on upside-down. On this day he was wearing my glasses, his dad's slippers and then we saw the Stephen's were matchy-matchy. Fun times in our household.

Recent Adelaide

Here are some pictures of my baby. She's five months old. Where did my newborn go?!

And yes, I realize most of the pictures are blurry. When Adelaide smiles she moves all over. The in focus pictures I have just aren't as cute without her smiling, and the cute ones are blurry. Blurry ones it is.

My son's perspective

Stephen took these pictures. It's so fun to see things from his perspective.

Preschool Field Trip - Firestation

Today our preschool group went on a field trip to a nearby firestation. It was more fascinating than I thought it would be. We moms all learned the difference between a fire truck and a fire engine. I didn't even know there was a difference. The firemen taught the kids about fire safety and emphasized to the kids that firemen are not scary, and if you see them in your house to give them a big hug. Genius! I took several pictures, and my phone freaked out for the group photo. Sweet.
